A native of Veracruz, Mexico, María de Lourdes Victoria is a bilingual author whose work has transcended borders and been recognized and published internationally in both English and Spanish. Her debut novel, Los hijos del mar (Children of the Sea), was a finalist for the Mariposa Award at the International Latino Book Awards. With Más allá de la justicia, she won third place for the Premio Planeta in 2010. Later, La casa de los secretos (The House of Secrets) once again made her a finalist at the Los Angeles International Latino Book Awards. In 2025, she published La maletita azul with Planeta, Mexico. Her latest novel, En tiempo de flor y de ceniza, published by Planeta, Mexico, arrived to bookstores in August 2026. In addition to her narrative work, her short stories have appeared in renowned literary magazines such as Quercus Review, RiverSedge, and Nimrod, cementing a career defined by stories that bridge cultures, emotions, and human experiences.

Los Hijos del Mar
Los Hijos Del Mar was a finalist for the Mariposa Prize and won third place for Best Historical Novel at the International Latino Book Awards. The novel recounts, with human warmth, the saga of the Victoria and Muguira families, nineteenth-century families from Mexico and Spain whose ancestors are joined in a story of love, loss, and redemption. The author depicts the history of Mexico born of mestizaje and the lives of Spanish immigrants who left their homeland because of sociopolitical unrest. The characters form a rich mosaic set mainly in the heroic city of Veracruz and Mexico City.
